Abandoned Ship Found By Parks Canada Archeologists

155 years ago, a ship, the mission of which is to sir for Sir John Franklin's expedition was abandoned and it was only recently that it was discovered. The HMS Investigator was discovered this week by Parks Canada archeologists in Banks Island's Mercy Bay in the Northwest Territories. Another interesting thing about the discovery apart from the age of the ship is that the archeologists started looking for the ship only a few days earlier.

With the help of sonar and magnetometers which can detect metal objects, the archeologists found the exact location of the abandoned ship. According to history, the ship was abandoned by its crew members after it was trapped at Mercy Bay by ice. After abandoning the ship, they were fortunately saved by a Royal Navy sledge team.

There is more to this story as they are yet to make public what they have found on the ship which is quite a discovery since it was commissioned more than one and a half decades ago. Stay tuned to this story to find out what they can pull out of the abandoned ship.
