- For 561 hockey fans last Thursday night's Flyers game vs the st. Mary's Lincolns was a good one to watch. But in the end it was another one that got away from the Flyers.
- The Leamington Flyers dominated much of the contest, but a missed offside call and an unusual OT penalty turned the tide in St. Mary's favor.
- Despite the loss, the Flyers knew that they had outworked the Lincolns and had reaped a point. However, midway through the third, a missed offside call resulted in a St. Marys' goal that tied the game, then in OT, Flyers' forward Nick Butts was given a boarding penalty which resulted in the Lincolns scoring the game-winner with 33 seconds left in the overtime period.
- Those two factors took a bit of wind out of the Flyers' positives on the night. For the first time since late February and last season's playoffs, Adam Dunmore donned a Flyers' jersey and played in a game. By the game's conclusion, Dunmore looked comfortable and had adjusted to his new linemates.
- Prior to the game, Dunmore said, "The doctor has given the green light to play, so I hope I get a chance to play tonight."
- The Lincolns grabbed an early 1-0 lead courtesy of a powerplay goal and Cheyne Matheson had a good opportunity slip away from him as he tried to get away on a breakaway but lost the puck before he could get in position to shoot.
- St. Marys came right back and tabbed a second goal for a 2-0 margin. At 13:24 the Flyers got on the board when Dylan Solecki and Brendon Anger hooked passes to Kyle Bowman, who blasted a shot from the slot which narrowed the game to 2-1.
- From the opening face-off of the second frame, Tyler Raymont worked the puck to Solecki whose shot caromed off Lincs' goalie Greg Dodds. Bowman pounced upon the rebound and with a lightning quick move deposited it into the open left side.
- The Flyers vaulted themselves into the lead at 12:55 when Marco Canzoneri and Trevor Crevatin laid the groundwork for Brendon Anger who pounded his first goal as a Flyer into an open left side of the Lincs' net.
- In the third period, St. Mary's found it tough getting anything past Flyers' starter Ryan Malinowski and thanks to a missed offside call at 7:18 collected the tying goal.
- The OT penalty call which led to the eventual St. Marys' game-winner, was made at 2:36. and the Lincolns notched a powerplay goal with 33 seconds left in overtime.
- Flyers' forward Kyle Bowman was thrilled with his performance and that of his teammates, "I felt good tonight, I stepped my game up and so did a lot of the other (Flyers) players."
